Khali
Khali is a French rapper with an introspective pen and a singular musical style, blending emotional depth and sonic modernity. His music is characterized by melancholy ambiences, sung flows and an elaborate rhythmic breakdown. He alternates between French, English and Arabic in his lyrics, tackling with sincerity the themes of betrayal, addiction, love, self-doubt and everyday life. His productions, often driven by piano or acoustic guitar melodies, create a sound universe that is both raw and delicate.
Influenced by major North American rap figures such as Playboi Carti, Gunna and Lil Uzi Vert - notably in their use of the “baby voice”, flow and soaring atmospheres - Khali also draws inspiration from artists on the French-speaking scene such as Laylow and Hamza.
This blend of sensibilities gives his music a unique color, at the crossroads of emotions and experimentation.
In July 2023, I had the honor of meeting Khali and his manager ahead of his concert at the Montreux Jazz Festival.
The interaction was striking on every level: human, sincere and deeply caring. Touched by his album “IL NE ME RESSEMBLE PAS NON PLUS”, which I received as genuine personal support, I wanted to offer him a t-shirt from my first collection.
Much to my surprise, Khali decided to wear it on stage that evening, in a meaningful gesture of reciprocity.
It's an artistic and human adventure that I particularly cherish, and one that encourages me to pursue my vision of fashion that's connected to music, authentic and emotionally charged.
